I tried to start reading the novel (for a "Reading Comics" class, which I ended up dropping), but I guess comics, especially in book form, are just not my thing.

Watchmen is a work of brilliance and Alan Moore is an amazing writer. This is why I'm so scared for the movie...

Watchmen truly is amazing, I picked it up about two weeks ago and I finished it in a night, I was engrossed in it. I really really hope they do well on the movie, it's gotta be true to the story becuase that story is pertinent and the telling of it has to be executed properly.

Any chance they will release it in regular novel format? Or is it just not possible to successfully translate it from one format to another? It was just too confusing with all of the illustrations for me to follow. (I have enough trouble reading these days as it is, since I always seem to have brain-fog).

No I really don't think so, it would be way too hard becuase comics are more dialog based rather then narrated. And plus the pictures are there to give the whole story to put context to what they may be talking about. I understand what you mean with trouble following, that one especially because it changes it formats quite a bit comparatively. Usually comics will start the page in the top left panel and move to the right and then will move down to the next row and so on. But they sometimes had it going from top left straight down and then over and stuff liek that. Not to mention the placement of dialogue bubbles were a bit different too. But really it is worth the read if you can try to get the handle on it.

They'll probably release a novelization of the movie alongside the release of that. Though I recommend you persevere with the graphic novel, it's fantastic.

Especially considering Zack Snyder's close adherence to the imagery of the Watchmen graphic novel. Half the trailer are detail-for-detail replica's of panels in the comic.

I'm really looking forward to it. I have a Rorschach tattoo that I got a year ago when I first discovered Watchmen.

Pic from when I first got it way back when:
